Total Eclipse of the Farm: A Day to Remember, 4-8-2024

So, the universe decided to throw an eclipse party, and let me tell you, not a single chore was done on the homestead today. Why? Because how often does the sun decide to play a game of hide-and-seek with the moon right over your backyard? 🌞🌑

We all gathered around, the whole squad – yes, even the chickens, who for once forgot about their endless quest for the next juicy bug and huddled together like, "What's the big idea?" It was as if they were whispering to each other, "Turn around, bright eyes," trying to make sense of the sun taking a quick time-out.

Seven hens—three brown, two white, and two black—clustered together among unplanted garden beds in early spring, moments after a solar eclipse.
Post-eclipse pow-wow: Just our hens regrouping after the universe hit the pause button. 🌞🌑 Back to the pecking order!

And then, as fast as it came, the mini-night was over. It was back to bright skies as if the sun had just stepped out for a quick break. "Guess I'll turn around now," it seemed to say, hopping back into the spotlight.

Honestly, even though we had this day circled on our calendars, experiencing it was something else. It was a bit like finding that four-leaf clover but not really looking for it – rare, surprising, and kind of magical. Just another day on the farm, right? Except, it was anything but.

Gotta love how the universe can just decide to dial down the daylight and give us all a moment to pause, look up, and feel a little small but totally connected. It’s like, in that brief twilight, we were all part of some cosmic choir, hitting the high notes of "Total Eclipse of the Heart."

Cheers to a day that reminded us light's always gonna find its way back, no matter how dark it gets. And shoutout to our chickens for being the unexpected stars of the show, proving once again that when the universe puts on a show, you just gotta stop and watch – chores can wait.

Here's to the sun and moon, giving us a real-life "Turn around, bright eyes" moment, right here on our slice of heaven. 🌞🌑🐔✨

The green sky after the eclipse is pretty cool, right? I noticed it in your pic too. Weird how that is but love it.
